Collier Mountain Search

Tri-County GSAR was activated at 18:27 May 31st to assist in a search for two missing persons; the team provided a limited amount of resources. Due to the large geographic region involved only a management team and members with ATV’s were asked to respond. District 11 RCMP released the following media report Thursday morning, (Jun 2):

A search began on Tuesday after 50-year-old David Harrison and 59-year-old Grace Steeves were reported missing. They had been travelling on an ATV in the Elgin area. Members of the RCMP, Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue volunteers, officials from the New Brunswick Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement Unit and a rescue helicopter from Nova Scotia were all involved in the search.

On June 1 at around 7 p.m., the bodies of both of the missing people were discovered near the Prosser Brook Road area in Elgin. Their ATV had crashed. Neither victim was wearing a helmet. Alcohol is also suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
